L.O.V Cosmetics

Back at the start of February I was very kindly sent out some new make up to try from L.O.V Cosmetics, a relatively new brand to Ireland but one that I have been dying to try if I’m honest.
The first thing that struck me about L.O.V. Cosmetics as a brand is how high end all of their products look. Their packaging is sleek and sophisticated and when I saw the price point of the products I was really, really surprised as I expected them to be a lot pricier than they actually are.

Here is a breakdown of some of the products that I’ve tried and how I found them.

LOVtime 18hr Long Lasting Foundation €12.95

Now I’m going to start this by saying that whoever chose this colour for me couldn’t have done a better job, it is almost an exact match for my skin tone which obviously makes my job a lot easier when trying it out. This foundation is marketed as a long lasting, medium to high coverage foundation and I for one absolutely agree with that. The coverage is completely buildable and the finish is beautiful, it’s a Velvet Matte finish which I have never experienced before but it feels lovely, matte without feeling like it’s taking moisture out of your skin. I have combination skin so this foundation suits me perfectly. It is long lasting and covered any blemishes or redness in my skin exactly how I wanted it to. I apply mine using a flat head Kabuki brush and I find this distributes the product perfectly giving me the finish that I want using minimal product.

I haven’t really put another foundation on my face since I was sent this one, I’m over the moon with it and I will definitely be buying it once I’m finished with this one.

COVERStory Serum Concealer €11.95

Well now, this concealer…. It might sound like I’m massively exaggerating BUT…I think it might just be the best concealer I have ever tried. It does exactly what I need it to do for me. Now at this point I’m going to put my hand up and say that I don’t have incredibly dark circles under my eyes (thankfully) but I do still like to brighten that area up. My biggest issue in this area is being 37 most concealers tend to sink into the fine lines under my eyes and get “craggy” as soon as I start to move my face which draws even more attention to the area in a negative way. This concealer didn’t do that, it lasted all day without seeping into the fine lines at all, I was absolutely thrilled with the results. I will say though that I didn’t apply the product using the dispenser on top because it confused me!! I just pumped some on to my hand and applied it under my eye using a concealer brush and then buffed it in using a slightly damp Beauty Blender and this worked perfectly for me.

The only negative I can see with this product is that it only comes in two shades, I really think that they should add some more because it is outstanding.

TheFORBIDDEN Dramatic Volume Mascara €9.95

I love Volumising mascaras, they’re always my go to type of mascara when I’m choosing one. I prefer larger, fluffier mascara wands versus thin, prickly plastic ones every time. The wand in this particular mascara is intriguing. It’s an hourglass shape, something I have never seen before myself but it works!! The shape of the wand is excellent for helping to curl the lashes but you don’t get any spidery effect from it. When I’m using it I would definitely apply two coats but that’s because I like to try and get as much volume and pigment into my lash as possible. Speaking of pigment, this is right up my street because it was sent to me in the Extra Black Provocation shade and when it comes to me with mascara and liquid eyeliner, the blacker the better. Fear not though if super black lashes aren’t your thing then it also comes in Provocation Black and Provocation Black Waterproof too.

This brand boasts an extensive range of mascaras though, so if this one isn’t ticking all of your boxes then I’m sure one of the other five available in the range will.

Confidentialiner Eyeliner Pen €7.95

Now if you ever watch my makeup tutorials on Snapchat “lipsticknleopo” or see my selfies on Instagram then you will know that I love a good winged liner. Although I have my “go to” liquid liners of course, I’m always on the look out to try something new. I’m going to be like a broken record here because what I look for most of all when it comes to liquid liner is pigment. Nothing makes me fume more than applying your wing and getting a wishy washy dirty grey colour instead of black….not cool!!

I’m a really big advocate of using eyeliner pens when you don’t have the steadiest hand in the world or you’re not too confident applying it. I think they give you more control over the application and it can be a little bit easier to get the colour to disperse evenly. This is a fantastic all round liner, pigment is spot on and it is incredibly easy to apply. Once again I’m blown away by the price of it considering the quality, big huge thumbs up.

BROWttitude Eyebrow Contouring Palette €12.95

This is such a handy portable palette for eyebrows on the go. It comes with three different powder shades and a fixing wax along with a double ended brush with an angled brow brush on one side and a spoolie on the other. It also has a really decent sized mirror in the palette (like it’s €12.95!!!)

This palette comes in two shades, Blonde Attitude and Brunette Attitude, now I was sent the Blonde Attitude palette and  unfortunately it was a bit too pale for my brows but I loved the feel of the product itself, I especially love the correcting powder that comes in the palette that you use to tidy up around the brows with once you’re finished shaping them, it’s incredibly good for lifting the appearance of the eye and bringing more definition to the brow shape. There’s a fab sticker that comes attached to the mirror that goes through step by step how to use the product so I think that’s brilliant for anybody who is a bit of a brow novice. As I say this shade didn’t suit me but I’d happily buy the Brunette Attitude shade now having used this one, it has everything you could possible need for creating perfect brows.

So overall my experience with L.O.V Cosmetics was fantastic, in fact I can’t remember a time when a brand has impressed me as much on a first try. Just to clarify again, these products were sent to me to try, I was never asked to write a blog post on them but I really wanted to because I ended up having such a positive experience.

All of the opinions above are my own and trust me when I live test a product over on my Snapchat for the first time and don’t like it, you’ll know all about it, my face is incapable of lying!!

Cailyn Super HD Foundation

I’m going to start off this blog by saying that I had wanted to try this foundation for a really long time but the price always put me off. Not because it’s any pricier than any other high end foundation because it’s not, in fact it’s probably a wee bit cheaper at €34 but I don’t often invest that type of money in a foundation because I get bored very quickly.

Cailyn is a brand that’s new enough to Ireland and has really taken off this year. If you’ve been watching Irish Beauty Bloggers and MUA’s on Snapchat, Facebook or Instagram this year then no doubt you’ll have heard of it. The one Cailyn product that keeps getting talked about over and over again is the Super HD Foundation, it’s praised for it’s coverage and ease of application and this is what made me think….I have to have it!!

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that I love coverage when it comes to foundation because I have redness in my cheek area that I’m quite self conscience about. I also don’t like to feel like I’m wearing a lot of makeup (fussy much!!) so one can be difficult to find sometimes without the other. I went to a Masterclass in Tiger Boutique back in July and at the end of the class Nicole Lynch MUA did a demo of flawless dewy skin and she used Cailyn Super HD Foundation and that was it, game over, I had to have it, it was so stunning.

Loved it on a night out because of the ease of application

After struggling to find my shade in stock I finally got my hands on some at the end of September from Meaghers Pharmacy and I’m not even exaggerating I fell in love with this product the second I put it on my face. It’s just beautiful, it feels so soft and lightweight, the coverage is ridiculously good so I’ve no idea how they manage to pull both of those things off but they do!!

You need to use very little of the product to achieve a full coverage look so that even further justifies the €34 price tag!!
My skin is combination so it suits me perfectly, I’m not overly oily so it stays put on my T-zone with little effort and it doesn’t cake on my drier areas. It’s a cream formulation and I know I’ve seen other bloggers apply it using an Oval brush but I don’t have one so I just applied it with my regular stippling brush and it glided on. I thought it lasted very well especially this week as I’ve been sick and blowing my nose a lot so it’s been put to the test!!

Just love how un-made up you look while getting full coverage

I would recommend this foundation to anybody who was thinking of buying it 100%. I’m so glad I tried it, it’s worth every single penny and I would re-purchase it again without a shadow of a doubt.

I want to also give a special mention here to Meaghers Pharmacy. When I ordered the Cailyn Foundation from their website it was my very first time using them and I can honestly say that from start to finish their customer service was impeccable. Nothing is too much for them. I feel like all business should be run like Meaghers Pharmacy is run!!  I’ll certainly be using them frequently in the future and just to clarify, this is 100% my own opinion, I have no affiliation with Meaghers whatsoever I just believe in bringing attention to excellent customer service because it’s certainly not something you get everywhere.

I used the Foundation in Shade 02 Adobe

Stand Out Product- Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation

The amount of product I need to use for my entire face

Foundation truly is the Holy Grail product for most of us. It is such a personal choice, what works for you may not work for another and we’re all looking for different things from our foundation too.

Personally when it comes to foundation what I’m looking for firstly is coverage. I’ve always been quite self conscious about my red cheeks so I want these covered as much as possible. Second after coverage is longevity, I don’t agree with having to re-apply your foundation throughout the day. In my opinion when it’s on it should stay on!!

Just primer, no filter (obviously!!)

I have Normal/Combination skin so I’m a little bit oily in my T-zone (not overly) and dry on my cheeks (again, not overly). Even though I love coverage I’m not looking for a foundation that feels like a mask on my face and I don’t like a very Matte finish either, my goodness I’m very fussy!!

To be honest I’ve lost track of how many foundations I’ve tried over the years and I can’t remember one that I’ve been as instantly happy with as the Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation. It ticks ever box for me. From the first time that I used it I was in love, I couldn’t believe how much coverage you got from such a small amount of product and with a price tag of €10.95 I was even more impressed!!

Just foundation, no concealer, no filter

I’ve been using the foundation now for about 5 weeks and I honestly haven’t used a different foundation since I bought it, I just love it. It feels lovely and lightweight on the skin, not at all cakey and you still have a nice glowy finish which I love.

The finished product!!

The only negative I can think of with this product is its lack of availability (well certainly in Cork anyway). I really wish more pharmacies would stock it, I’ve tried one or two other bits from the range and I am very impressed with them all. I bought mine in Mellericks Pharmacy in Fermoy but that certainly isn’t close to wear I live so please Flormar expand your locations!!
Alternatively it can be bought online at the following websites;

Meaghers Pharmacy

Cara Pharmacy

Foley’s Chemist

Simply Foxy

I know online shopping isn’t ideal when you want to know what colour you should choose but if it’s the only option what can you do!!

I used shade 102 Soft Beige for reference if that helps. This is definitely a product I will be re-purchasing and it makes me so excited to keep on trying Flormar products and hopefully the more we do, the more easily available they will become.

High End V’s High Street

Ok so the word “Dupe” is one you’ll hear bandied around the place constantly at the moment and although it’s great to think of yourself practically getting the same product for a mere fraction of the price, often times this really isn’t the case. What I aim to do here is point out some of my favourite products from the high-end bracket and tell you about their high street counterparts. Personally I love to splash out sometimes on a “high end” treat but at the same time I’m a sucker for a bargain, I’m an equal opportunities consumer especially when it comes to beauty products. So let’s take a look at what I’ve found!!

Primers

High End- My favourite primer of all time is Prime Time by Bare Minerals. I love it so much, it makes your skin feel so smooth and soft when you use it and I think it’s phenomenal at keeping makeup on. It’s suitable for all skin types and what I love about it is how little of it you have to use so I think that helps to justify the €26 price tag. Just pop a little on over your moisturiser and under your foundation and watch how quickly the longevity of your make up changes!!

High Street- Very recently I discovered Coverall Primer from Wet n Wild and I must say I’m very impressed with this one too. Although I do feel it’s probably less suitable for anyone who has very dry skin but for those with a more combination/oily skin type it’s impressive. Now Wet n Wild is a brand that I’ve built a little love affair with over the past while ever since I discovered their Coverall Foundation (more about that in a minute), it’s an incredibly well priced brand and the quality of any of the products I’ve tried has been incredibly good. Now I bought the primer in a set including a colour correcting concealer palette in Penneys for €6.50 which was a complete bargain but I don’t think the primer is going to set you back any more than that on its own and that’s for a 25ml tube.

Eyeshadow Primers

While we’re on the subject of primers I’m going to tell you about my two favourite eyeshadow primers. Why do you need an eyeshadow primer I hear you ask..well imagine spending all that time creating a gorgeous masterpiece on your eyelids only for it to melt off two hours later, all because you didn’t take that extra second to add this step to your regime…Criminal!!

High End- My high-end choice here is Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Now I’m going to specify that it is the original one that I’m talking about as I have used the anti-aging version and I don’t find it as good at all. For me this is a must have product because I do a lot of strong smokey eye looks so I wouldn’t be without it in my make up bag. It’s simple to apply and leaves the eyelids so smooth and ready for the application of your eyeshadow. I find my eyeshadow always blends so much easier when I use it and it doesn’t budge. I have had eye makeup looks last for 16 hours + without having to touch it up after using this product, it is truly incredible. It comes in two different sizes, the 5ml travel size which is €11 and a great way to try the product to see what you think and the 10ml size which is €21. Again a little of this product goes a long way so well worth the money in my opinion.

High Street- My high street option here is I 💙 Stage from Essence. What a find, I would never have known about this little gem if it hadn’t been for Jen from Too Dolly Makeup. I saw her use it and rave about it so I thought I’d give it a go myself. It’s just a brilliant product considering the price of it which is €3.09 for 4ml. Now I’m not going to lie and tell you it’s an exact dupe for the Urban Decay one because it isn’t but what a great alternative to use during the week at work so you can hold on to your more expensive product for nights out or days when you want your eyes to be beyond flawless. Another must have in my opinion , I picked mine up in Penneys but it will be available nationwide on any Essence stand.

Concealer

High End- Now I’m a massive Urban Decay fan, anybody who knows me or reads my blog will know this about me so generally speaking if I’m looking for a new high-end beauty product then the Urban Decay counter is usually my first port of call. That’s exactly how I ended up using Naked Skin Concealer for the first time. Unsurprisingly I love it, I wanted to use it specifically for highlighting under my eyes, just to lighten up the area and add a contrast to my contouring. I love the texture of it, it covers exceptionally well without being thick, it adds a lovely brightness to my undereye and most importantly it doesn’t sit in your under eye wrinkles which to be fair is the Holy Grail of under eye concealing!!

Priced at €22 for 5mls, it comes in 11 different shades so there’s bound to be one to suit everybody.

High Street- My pick for best high street brand is Seventeen Wow Skin Concealer. You need to buy this product, honestly it is ridiculously good considering the price point!! To be honest Seventeen aren’t a brand I’d gravitate towards normally but I had started to hear great things about this concealer a number of weeks ago online and in magazines so I thought I’d chance it myself,  I’m so glad I did. It comes in a pen style so application couldn’t be simpler and it’s so illuminating I couldn’t have imagined how much brighter it made my skin look. In fact since I’ve discovered this product I’ve used it instead of my Naked Skin concealer every day which trust me is high praise coming from me. The only issue might be the lack of colour options as it only comes in two shades, Light and Medium. Hopefully if it turns out to be as big of a success as it deserves to be then more colours might be introduced.  Currently retailing in Boots for €6.99 for 2.5mls but keep your eyes peeled for special offers.

Foundation

And finally the most difficult product everybody finds to get right…Foundation. I shudder to think about how much I’ve spent over the years trying to find “the perfect” foundation and I suppose what I deem to be perfect for me may not be the same for others but I judge “perfect” to be , the foundation with the best coverage.

High End- With this is mind, the best high-end foundation I’ve used thus far is Inglot HD Perfect Coverup Foundation. This is a product I’ve only started using recently and I have to admit I’ve been blown away by it. The coverage is incredible, I mean incredible but without making you look like you’re wearing a mask. It doesn’t feel heavy in the slightest, it just makes your skin look flawless. I always get compliments about my skin when I wear this foundation and even in photographs your complexion looks brighter and honestly what’s not to love about that? Don’t laugh but I keep it as my “good foundation”, so I only take it out for special occasions, nights out etc because it’s a little bit pricey at €35 for 35mls but boy is it worth it!!

High Street- For my high street choice I give you the aforementioned Coverall Foundation from Wet n Wild. It was a complete stroke of luck that I found this foundation to be honest, to be blunt it was the name attracted me to it, I’m all about coverage when it comes to foundation so when I saw the name Coverall I felt it was worth a shot! Although it’s not a complete coverage foundation it is totally buildable and is absolutely perfect as a day-to-day foundation for work if you don’t want to be forking out loads of money. It claims to be suitable for all skin types but because it has a satin finish I would advise those with a oilier skin type to avoid it because I really don’t think the finish wouldn’t suit. An absolute bargain at €4.69 for 29.6mls, so for that price I really can’t see you regretting trying it.

So those are some of my favourite High End and High Street products. I hope you’ve seen something in there that you haven’t tried before but interests you now. I think it’s important to never rule any brand out based on price, especially if you think something is “too cheap”, you never know you might just find one of your new favourites. Same for the high-end products, if you’re investing a big sum of money in a product then do your research, ask for samples or ask to try the product on on counter before you go straight into buying.

We all deserve a treat every now and then xx

Jeanette Cronin Masterclass at Tiger Boutique

On Sunday the 24th of July I attended a Masterclass with the incredible Jeanette Cronin Make up artist in Tiger Boutique on the Old Mallow Road. The Masterclass involved watching Jeanette as she re-created three of her signature looks. The class itself ran from 12-5 and if your passion is make up and the art of applying it then you need to get yourself on one of these courses ASAP!!!

For those of you that aren’t familiar with Jeanette’s work, she is an extremely popular and talented self taught MUA from Limerick but living in Cork. She worked as the Manager of Inglot in Mahon Point for about a year until her move to Tiger Boutique recently. The boutique also has a Training Academy that offers courses like the one I did, one on one lessons with Jeanette, Drag Makeup courses, as well as longer courses that offer you a professional qualification at the end. Tiger Boutique really is a one stop shop for make up courses whether you’re a beginner just starting your career or a professional looking to upgrade your skills.

Some of the tools used on the day

So we started off with a very classic look, all brows and eyeliner, she went through her technique for carving out brows and to be honest I couldn’t have imagined learning so much about how getting this right sets the scene for the rest of your look. We went through the tools and products she uses to get her flawless look and needless to say I now have an even longer list of “must haves” than I did before!!

Brows and liner tutorial complete

She did two seperate eye makeup looks and I learned that many of the looks that she creates have very similar starting points so once you master the basics of these techniques you can tweak them to create several different finishes. I also learned that your tools are everything, the difference in the quality of the finish when you’re using great quality brushes is incredible. I know that that really does sound like a no brainer but I cant stress enough the difference it makes. Jeanette’s approach is great, she’s friendly and approachable and I really appreciated her “there’s no such thing as a stupid question” attitude especially as I was the only person in the room on the day not currently employed in the beauty industry!!!

Lots of the eye looks begin in a very similar way

The boutique has a menu of 7 different looks that Jeanette created and clients can choose from these looks in any colour they wish when booking. The boutique has also recently employed Nicole Lynch who is also ex-Inglot and on top of being an incredibly nice girl is also ridiculously talented. She was unexpectedly there the day of Jeanette’s Masterclass and as a bonus she showed us her tips for creating a flawless, dewy skin look. I learnt so much on the day it’s hard to even put it into words but I wanted to write this post for anyone who might be thinking about completing one of the Tiger Boutique courses to let you know that you won’t be sorry if you do.

Tiger Boutique has brought something to Cork that just didn’t exist before… think outside the box, creative training with talented and imaginative trainers.

Summertime Foundation tips

Summertime is here and incredibly we’ve even had some sunny weather so far!! At this time of the year our thoughts turn to sun tans whether they be real or from a bottle, we yearn to have a beautiful sunkissed glow but this in itself causes issues with our everyday foundation.

So a few days ago I got asked what is the best way to change up your foundation routine once you have a suntan to avoid your face being paler than your body, so I said I’d write up a few tips.

Change of Foundation

Well this is the first very obvious one, a lot of people do buy the next shade up in their regular foundation so they can use this during the time that they have a tan, especially if they’re already happy with the everyday foundation that they use. This makes sense if you love the finish and coverage of your regular foundation and it’ll be very handy even while your tan is fading because you’ll be able to mix the two colours together until you get back to your original colour.

Gradual Face Tanners

In my opinion these work best if you just get a light tan on your body because you never really get very deep colour from them. These are generally clear when you apply them and develop overnight and stay on for a few days depending on what products you use on your face while you have it on. Of course you can always re-apply these for a few days in a row to deepen the colour. You can use these on their own with some bronzing powder or you can use them as a base for your regular foundation because having the gradual tanner as a base will naturally deepen the colour of your foundation anyway. There are some great ones on the market and I can certainly recommend the No.7 Gradual Facial Tanner as this also has an SPF 15 too. Best way to apply this is to exfoliate the face first, even using something like the Nip n Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Pads and apply a very light layer of moisturiser to the face. Apply the Gradual Face tanner either using your fingers or a clean foundation brush and apply as you would your foundation normally but make sure to avoid your eyebrows and your hairline.

Self Tan

In addition to using a separate face tanner many of the self tan products available these days are also suitable to be used on the face. Because I don’t really tan much naturally myself, fake tan is my best friend come Summertime and to be honest since it came out I haven’t used anything other than Cocoa Brown for my tanning needs. I love the 1 hour tan for when I want a tan for a few days and the Instant Tan Matte Bronzing Gel for when I need a tan in a hurry. All of the tans from Cocoa Brown are non-comedogenic which means they won’t block your pores and are as suitable for the face as they are for the body. The Gentle Bronze product in this range is probably the most suitable one for dry skin. When I tan my body I always tan my face as well so I have a base to work with when I’m applying my foundation.  As with the gradual tanner for the face, these tans will work best if your skin is prepped properly. I use Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff as my exfoliater but please note that this is not suitable for the face.

Foundation drops

I couldn’t write this post without mentioning these products from The Body Shop. Launched at the end of last year The Body Shop released Shade Adjusting Drops in two shades, Lightening and Darkening. Now because I haven’t used these products first hand myself all I can tell you is what I’ve read about them and it seems that they do exactly what they say on the tin, the Lightening ones lighten up a foundation that’s too dark for you and the Darkening ones darken up a foundation that isn’t dark enough!! In theory these sound like a brilliant idea but as I say I haven’t used them myself so can’t vouch for them as of yet but they have the potential to be the solution to all our shade adjusting problems!!

Well I hope this has been of some use to any of you who are struggling to get their foundation shade just right this summer, if you have any more suggestions on how to solve this dilemma please feel free to post a comment below. I’d love to hear your ideas.

My top 5 budget buys for May

This month I’ve used a lot of new cheap and cheerful alternatives to my usual brands just to mix things up a bit and here are 5 of the best that I’ve tried!!!

1. Seventeen Wow Skin Concealer

I’m so impressed with this product honestly, it’s a really excellent product with an equally impressive price tag. It’s an under eye liquid concealer that comes in a handy pen style a la Touche Eclat. It comes in two colours, Fair and Medium, I used Fair which matched my skin tone perfectly. It blends beautifully and I found it really luminous and lightweight. There were no issues with it sitting in my “crows feet” even after being on for a number of hours. To be fair I wasn’t expecting too much from it considering the price but I’ve since replaced the concealer I normally use (Naked Skin from Urban Decay ) for my daytime makeup every day since I’ve discovered this one, high praise indeed trust me!!!! My opinion is it’s such an impressive product that I would comfortably use this as an every day concealer but probably stick to my more high end product for a night out or on a day where I needed to be guaranteed of it staying put.

Currently on sale in Boots for €6.99 and on 3 for 2 on selected 17 products too, absolutely worth a try!!!

2. PS Felt Eye Liner

Well I’ve raved about this on my Facebook page from the very first time I’ve tried it and I haven’t changed my mind since. It is absolutely awesome and is so so easy to use, in fact I would go so far as to say that it’s possibly the best product I’ve used yet to perfect a thin line and flick when doing winged liner. It is an absolute bargain but difficult to get your hands on because it’s swooped up as quick as it lands in stores and now having used it I understand why. This has also replaced my favourite liquid liner (Rimmel Exaggerate liquid liner) ever since the first time I’ve used it!! If I was to nit pick the only negative I can see about this product is that it is difficult to remove which could also be construed as a positive as you know it’s going to last but yah you do need a little bit of extra welly when you’re removing it to make sure it’s all gone.

On sale in Penneys  (if you can get your hands on it) for €2.00

3. Wet n Wild Coverall foundation

This is one of two products that I’ve used for longer than a month but I wanted to include them both because they’re both fantastic products and they’re both absolute bargains that deserve a mention!! I love this foundation so much,  I chanced my arm one day when I saw it in Penneys on the WetnWild stand and I needed a new foundation and boy am I glad I did!! Billed as a medium to full coverage foundation which I totally agree with, medium to begin with but absolutely buildable and I’m picky about coverage so if I say it covers, it covers but without being cakey and mask-like!! My skin is dry combination these days and I definitely think this foundation is more so for a drier skin as it does have a “satin finish” which I’m not sure a person with oilier skin would appreciate to be honest. I find it to be long lasting and feels lightweight on the skin, the only thing it doesn’t have is an SPF but to be fair considering the price of it that would be a lot to expect. Such fantastic value for money and I would highly recommend picking this up if you see it because I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised if you do.

I bought mine from the WetnWild stand in Penneys for €4.69

4. Catrice Glamourdoll Macara Ultra Back & Curl

At the end of last year I found out that the mascara I had used every day for the previous six years was going to be discontinued at the end of that December, cue me being absolutely disgusted and a little bit frantic as to what I was going to use now because I had loved that one so so much (It was Revlon’s Grow Luscious Mascara by the way for anyone who’s interested!!). I thought it would take me ages to find something I liked as much and began looking around to see what my options were. I’m not even joking when I say that the very first mascara I tried as a replacement was this Glamourdoll mascara from Catrice. I was stalking the make up stands in Penneys as per usual when I saw it, I was already a big fan of their liquid lipsticks so that’s what drew me to the stand to begin with but when I saw the brush on this mascara I knew I had to give it a go. I’m a huge fan of a curved brush as I love volume and curl because my eyelashes are already a decent length so lengthening isn’t something I’m all that interested in. Also the fact that it’s an extra black mascara was also a big thumbs up as I love my lashes to be as dark as possible. Just look at the curl on that wand…absolutely dreamy!! Long lasting and durable this mascara absolutely ticks all of the boxes for me, an absolute gem.

I bought mine in Penneys for €4.99

5. Collection Work the Colour Eyeshadow Pencil

Last but by no means least is this fab eyeshadow pencil that I picked up in Boots a few weeks ago in the shade Vanilla Sky. When I saw these pencils on the stand there were just two colours in stock that day, Vanilla Sky which I bought and a beautiful dusky pink colour called Vintage Blush but I’ve since found out that they come in six different colours in total. I really went back and forth between the Vanilla and the Blush colours as they were both so beautiful but Vanilla won out as I specifically wanted it for highlighting under the brow bone. Now I do love the gorgeous shimmery finish of this pencil but I don’t know if I’d use it all over the eye if I’m honest but it is absolutely stunning as a highlighter applied directly with your finger. I’d also give it a go on the cheeks as a highlighter or in the tear duct to brighten up the eye too. The reason I wouldn’t use it all over the eye is it would almost certainly crease on me but then again at 36 I’d love if you could show me a cream eyeshadow that wouldn’t!! Great value for money and a really handy one to keep in your makeup bag to add highlight to pretty much any eye look you can think of!!

I bought mine in Boots for €4.49
