Just because it’s nearly Valentine’s Day here are my top 5 favourite red lippies!Β

Valentine’s Day is coming and this holiday always makes me want to wear red lips. Hardly original I know but I think there’s nothing more classic than an eyeliner flick teamed with a red lip!! In celebration I thought I’d share with you my favourite red lipsticks.

1. Urban Decay Vice Lipstick- Spiderweb

Now this colour was first released as part of the Limited Edition collaboration with Gwen Stefani back in January of 2016 but thankfully it was then released later the same year as one of the 100 Vice Lipsticks so happy days that it’s now available without any restriction.

2. The Balm Meet Matte Hughes- Loyal

I have a miniature one of these liquid lipsticks, I got it as part of the Meet Matte Hughes miniatures set and I have to say that out of all of the different types of matte liquid lipsticks I’ve tried these are right up there at the top of my list of favourites. Incredibly long lasting and not one bit drying….big huge thumbs up!!!

3. Wet n Wild Megalast lip colour in Red Velvet

One of the very best budget lipsticks on the market by far. If you don’t have one of these beauties in your collection then you need to fix that…..quickly. The Megalast range is a long lasting lipstick but isn’t one bit drying on the lips. I absolutely love them but I love this colour in particular, it’s so comfortable!!

4. Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Mightiest Maraschino

An absolute handbag staple the Chubby Stick has been a long time favourite of mine but when it came to pick up one of these in a red shade I went for the Intense version. This still isn’t a full on lipstick as such but the colour isn’t as opaque as the regular Chubby Sticks, Mightiest Maraschino is a divine shade, so moisturising and comfortable on the lips and even though it’s a cream finish it still has very decent lasting power.

5. Benefit They’re Real Double the Lip in Revved up Red.

So last and most certainly not least is my most recent addition to my red lipstick collection. This colour is so beautiful and I love the idea of having the lip pencil shade on one side and the lipstick on the other, it’s absolutely genius. So comfortable to wear and I’ve been so impressed with the lasting power when it’s on. Another big thumbs up for me can’t wait to try some more shades!!

So those are the nicest red lipsticks I own, what do you think? Which one is your favourite? Do you have any of these already in your collection or do you have any others that you’d recommend to me? Let me know!!

Please note that all of these products have been bought by myself and all opinions expressed are my own.

To me love is…..Β

This is a very different type of post for me but I wanted to take up the opportunity of being a guest blogger over on Karen Gerahty’s blog Yankee Doodle Paddy and the topic she chose us to speak about is what love means to you….

Now in my opinion I have a very unique tale of love for this day and age. I met my now husband when I was 16 years old, that’s 21 years ago now and despite all of the obstacles put in our way over the years we’re still going strong.

I think we’re constantly sold a very unrealistic image of what love is in the movies, we’re used to seeing Hugh Grant stumbling over his words in the rain professing his undying love to Andie McDowell or seeing Richard Gere hanging out of the sunroof of a limo and climbing up the fire escape to give Julia Roberts her fairy tale… Life is very different from that and when it boils down to it, the over the top gestures don’t matter a thing.

To me, these are some of the things that matter most.
To me love is, letting me warm up my freezing cold feet on your legs even though you don’t want to.

To me love is, you coming home from a full days work and still cooking us a dinner because I’ve had a difficult day with the girls.

To me love is, you sending me messages or phoning me throughout the day just to see how my day is going.

To me love is, being able to cry in you arms just because I’m sad and you know you only need to be there you don’t have to try and fix it.

To me love is, you re-arranging all of your starting times at work when I was doing my injections for IVF because you knew I was scared of doing them on my own.

To me love is, seeing you look at our girls, our precious girls that were so longed for and are so loved.

To me love is, you not giving out about all of the makeup that I buy even though I only have one face 😁

To me love is, you constantly being my biggest cheerleader and always encouraging me to believe in myself.

To me love is, you and I knowing each other so well that sometimes we can finish each others sentences.

To me love is, the most important thing in the world. We have shared so much already during our life together and yet you’re still the first person I want to talk to when anything good or bad happens to me.

To me love is you xx

My favourites from 2016- AKA “The Lippies”

Since I started my blog in May of last year I’ve gotten to try and find some incredible products most of which I’ve shared with you either here or on my various social media channels. But with it being the start of a new year I’ve decided to do a round up of what I consider to be the creme de la creme of the products I found in 2016, my absolute favourites. True to form I’ve decided to give these awards a name, hence forth they shall be known as “The Lippies”!!
1. Favourite Foundation-Β I think this is going to be one of the easiest ones for me because since discovering Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation during the summer there really hasn’t been another foundation come close perhaps with the exception of the Cailyn Super HD Foundation but there is quite a significant price difference between them. The Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation is full coverage but light weight, it lasts all day and you need the tiniest amount ever to cover your entire face. I cannot speak highly enough about this product, in fact I gave it it’s own dedicated blog postΒ hereΒ back in September.

Runner Up- Cailyn Super HD Foundation. Read more about thatΒ here

2. Favourite Eyeshadow Palette-Β This one is so, so hard. If you follow me on any of my social media platforms I think you’ll know that my obsession with eyeshadow palettes is real, so to narrow it down to one is quite difficult. I think in my heart though I know it has to be Anastasia Beverley Hills “Modern Renaissance”. I can’t actually believe that I haven’t done a dedicated blog post for this palette yet because I love it so much but yah, believe the hype, because everything you’ve heard about it is true. I’ve never experienced eye shadows that blend the way these ones do. I also have the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette and it’s not a patch on Modern Renaissance so save your money. A cult product really at this point because it’s so hard to get your hands on it so keep your eyes peeled on Beauty Bay and Cult Beauty because they release a limited amount of them every couple of months (with an ever increasing price tag unfortunately) but if you’re a palette nerd like me or you’re just looking for that one Holy Grail palette then I think this one might just be for you.

The truly beautiful Modern Renaissance palette

Runner Up- This is even more difficult to be honest so I’m going to pick two. First runner up is Meet Matte Trimony from The Balm. This is a stunning palette, The Balm are fast becoming one of my favourite brands but this palette stands out. I love the shades, they blend so well, the pan sizes are huge and although there is a little bit of fallout when you use it the shadows themselves are extremely long lasting on the eye. A massive thumbs up from me.

The Balm Meet Matte Trimony in amongst some of my other favourites

Second runner up is the Death by Chocolate palette from I Heart Makeup. The quality of this palette really surprised me. There’s a beautiful selection of colours especially suitable for everyday wear. There’s a mixture of matte and shimmer colours in the palette and they’re really easy to work with. A complete bargain at €12.

3. Favourite Liquid Liner- Up until about three weeks ago the product that I have as the runner up today would probably have been the winner until my friend Joyce fromΒ MakemeupmuaΒ introduced me to this absolute beauty from Essence Cosmetics. The Liquid Ink Waterproof Eyeliner from Essence is quite incredible. The precision that the wand allows you is phenomenal and the pigment, the pigment is exactly what I look for in an eyeliner, as black as coal!! To top it all off this eyeliner is barely over €3!!! A real gem, try it yourself, I know you won’t be disappointed.

My favourite liquid liner teamed with my runner up for favourite mascara

Runner Up-Β My runner up and all time favourite until a few weeks ago is the liquid eyeliner from Inglot. At €12 this is obviously more expensive than the Essence product but it’s a really fantastic liner. The main difference between the two is the Inglot eyeliner has a nib type applicator whereas the essence one is a flimsier type one which is ideal if you’re confident with liquid liner application but if you’re not I’d always recommend using a nib type product or an eyeliner pen as they will help you grow your confidence. The Inglot liner is really pigmented too and doesn’t move once you apply it. I’d highly recommend it especially because the product itself lasts absolutely ages.

Inglot Liquid Eyeliner

4. Favourite Mascara-Β I have spoken about this mascara on my blog before see hereΒ but I’ve yet to find one as good as it and it’s an absolute bargain to boot. My favourite is Catrice Glam n Doll Curl & Volume Mascara, Ultra Black & Curl, my God what a mouthful. I love it, I love everything about it. It’s so pigmented, I love the brush, it’s amazing for curling the lashes. It doesn’t flake or smudge even though it’s not waterproof and it’s €4.49!!! Yah €4.49…..tick, tick, tick!! I usually buy mine in Penneys but it’s available anywhere there’s a Catrice stand.

Runner Up-Β My choice of runner up for this category is another bargain and it’s Lash Princess Falsh Lash Effect Mascara from Essence Cosmetics. Again it’s under €5, has fabulous pigment and lasts all day. The Catrice mascara pips it to the post for me because of the wand, I personally just loved a curved mascara wand.

Special Mentions- These are products I’ve used pretty much every day regardless of how I’m doing my makeup and they deserve special mentions of their own.

Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil- I’m 100% not exaggerating when I say that I have used this product on my brows every single day since I bought it during the summer. It is the most straightforward product ever, I adore it. It helps to give your brows definition and look precise without looking overly drawn on. All I can say is it’s the best Brow product I’ve used to date and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

*Wetnwild Megaglo Contouring Palette Β All day every day I use this product. If you follow any of my social media pages you’ll know firstly how much I wear this product and secondly how much I love it. Just in case you don’t I included it in a blog post I wrote a few months ago that you can findΒ here

Well there you have it, some of my top makeup picks for 2016. Are any of your favourites mentioned here? Have you any others you’d add to the list?
Please note that I’ve paid for all of the products mentioned except for those marked with a * This in no way affects my opinions Β

Timeless Truth Bee Venom &Royal Jelly Miracle Mask

A few weeks ago I saw a company that I follow on social media, Beauty Belle were looking for bloggers over the age of 35 who were concerned about aging to review a course of one of their anti aging sheet masks. I contacted them and they thought that I would be a good fit so they sent me out three of the Bio Cellulose Bee Venom & Royal Jelly Miracle Masks to try. I was to use one a week for three weeks and report back after the course had finished.

The details of the company I worked with Beauty Belle

If I’m 100% honest I was a little bit nervous trying these masks out at first as they aren’t suitable for anybody who is allergic to bee stings and even though I was sure I was stung by a bee as a child I kept fretting in case I was wrong (mind you it didn’t stop me going ahead!!)
Apparently Bee Venom is now hailed as “Nature’s alternative to Botox” which I didn’t know and coupled with Royal Jelly they help to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which help the skin to become plumper and less saggy.

Now I have used sheet masks in the past but when I opened this one for the first time I immediately noticed a few differences.  Firstly this one was a lot wetter than any other sheet mask I had ever used before and secondly it was protected with gauze on both sides which threw me a little at first trying to figure out what way to actually put it on!! The second I applied it to my face though any niggling worries that I had about it being harsh went straight out the window. In fact it turned out to be quite the opposite, my skin felt instantly cooled and soothed. I found the mask itself a lot easier to apply to the skin than others I’ve tried and most importantly once you applied it it stayed adhered to the face, there was no fiddling around with it.

The mask in action

After the 20 minutes were up I removed the mask and rubbed the excess product into my face and neck area and went to have a look in the mirror. I was so pleasantly surprised that I could actually see a visible difference. My skin looked really refreshed and less red than it did, in fact I think my after picture looks like I’ve had a full nights peaceful sleep instead of 20 minutes with a face mask on. I was genuinely impressed. I had used the mask “live” on my Snapchat that day and showed the viewers step by step what I had been doing and I got several messages afterwards from followers saying how much they thought it had improved the overall look of my skin.

The before and after

After using it twice more since I think I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a really ideal mask to use if you have an event or a special occasion coming up. It really lifts and brightens the skin, I would even go so far as to say that you should do it the morning of an event (once you had already tried it and had no adverse effects) because your skin will be glowing and radiant and will be a perfect base for any make up that you put on it.
All in all I’ve had a really positive experience with this mask and I would definitely recommend it to anybody who is concerned about dullness or slackness in their skin or if your skin is tired looking and in need of a pick me up. You can purchase them singly or in a box of 5 and are available on the Beauty Belle website here.

Have you tried sheet masks before? What are your thoughts?

These products were sent to me to try but all opinions are my own.

Nima Brush Basics Set

Back in December I finally bit the bullet and decided to buy myself a set of Nima Brushes. I had heard only incredible things about this brand from MUA’s, Bloggers and Snapchatters that I admire greatly such as Diane Everett MUA, Jeanette Cronin MUA, Sinead from The Beautiful Truth and Yvonne from Putting It Out There.
Nima is an Irish brand and is the brain child of the very gorgeous and very talented Niamh Martin. Niamh is a professional makeup artist with over a decade of experience working both here and in the UK and her aim is to provide excellent quality but reasonably priced brushes and accessories to the masses!!

I decided it would make the most sense for me to choose The Basics Set as my first purchase and considering that you get 7 brushes and a beautiful pouch for €45  it seemed like an absolute no brainer. In this set you get a mixture of both face and eye brushes both of which have slightly shorter handles so make the brushes easier to bring with you when you’re on the go, although on saying that, they come in the most beautiful quilted white pouch with a black trim which folds over into such a tidy size you won’t have to worry about them taking up room in your bag.

The set consists of

Medium Powder Brush
Flat Head Kabuki Brush
Concealer Brush
Tapered Crease Blender Brush
Pencil Smudge Brush
Large Shader Brush
Angled Brow/Liner Brush

One of the first things that I noticed about the brushes is how soft they are and how incredibly easy they are to work with. I have used so many brushes throughout my career so I have a lot to compare them with and these just blew my mind from the very first use. I’m a very big fan of all of the brushes in the set but I want to give a special shout out to the Flat Head Kabuki Brush, I am in love with this brush. I really don’t want to ever use a different brush for applying foundation again in my life, there is actually no point because this one has completely stolen my heart. It helps to decrease the amount of product needed and it buffs it in so effortlessly leaving your skin looking completely flawless.

On to the eye brushes, I think my favourite of these is the Pencil Smudge Brush, it is so ideal for smudging colour on the lower lash line for the ultimate smokey eye but I also love it for adding really dark colours into the crease bit by bit. It is so small that you can get detail right in there without overdoing it….Love, love, love it!! Also the Angled Brow Brush (which can also be used for liner BTW) is phenomenal it is so solid and really holds it’s shape, it’s exactly what you need when applying gel or powder product to the brows.

All in all I can’t get over the value for money that you get with this set. For 7 brushes of this quality I would be expecting to be paying an awful lot more, let alone the fact that you’re getting such a beautiful pouch included in the price too!! I was so impressed with these I asked my sister in law to buy me The Build It Up Set as my Kris Kindle present because I wanted all of my brushes to be as awesome. You could safely say now that I’m a fully fledged Nima addict and as soon as you try these brushes I’m sure you will be too.

The Basics Set is available online here priced at €45. There are also several other individual brushes and other brush sets available on the site so be sure and have a look.

My top Makeup Revolution/TAM Beauty products from Mattetometallic.com

OK so unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year you’ll have heard of the brand Makeup Revolution. Makeup Revolution is part of the TAM Beauty line owned by Australian “Mr Make-up” Adam Minto, the range also includes the I πŸ’œ Makeup range, Freedom Makeup, LL Makeup Obsession amongst others.

At the start of this year it was really difficult to get your hands on these products anywhere in Ireland other than from the Makeup Revolution app but slowly throughout the year Revolution and I πŸ’œMakeup stands began to spring up in selected pharmacies throughout the country. Although this is brilliant it doesn’t solve the problems for those who don’t have access to a stand nearby but now Matte to Metallic have a solution for you!!

Jen & Ciara owners of the Matte to Metallic Studio in Glasnevin both Qualified Makeup Artists that also run their own Makeup Academy have branched out and have introduced their own online store here. The girls stock an extensive range of Makeup Revolution, Freedom Makeup and I πŸ’œ Makeup products in their store with free delivery on all orders over €40.

I recently attended the official Irish launch of Makeup Revolution in Ireland and finally got to meet these amazing ladies in the flesh. I find them both so inspirational, they’ve achieved so much so quickly and the fact that you can now buy these products online from a store that’s 100% Irish owned and run makes me incredibly happy!!

So in celebration of these wonderful ladies and this fantastic brand I wanted to show you my top picks from their website.

I’ve picked a variety of products starting from €10 right up to €100 with lots in between…. Have you seen one of your favourite products in amongst my picks?

1. Freedom Pro Artist Pad-Studio To Go €22.50

No that’s not a mistake, that actually does say €22.50!!! Can you imagine? For your money you get 32 beautiful eyeshadows in a mixture of matte and shimmer finishes, a blusher, a bronzer and a highlighter all packaged together in this perfect palette ideal for on the go.

2. Makeup Revolution- The Palette Edit €35.00

So this is my absolute favourite I think, such INCREDIBLE value for money, for €35.00 you get three stunning eyeshadow palettes, a blush palette and a bronze palette. What a truly gorgeous gift for any makeup lover.

3. Revolution Handbag Hacks- Brow Kit €10.00

What a really fantastic stocking present or even a Kris Kindle present for a friend or colleague. For €10 you get a mesh makeup bag,  a mini trio brow kit and an angled brush. Bargain!!

4. Revolution Ultra Strobe Balm €12.00

This was the very first product I ever used from Makeup Revolution and I cannot recommend this highly enough. Basically if you want your skin to look more glowy and radiant then this is the product for you. It can be applied over your moisturiser and under your foundation to give your skin a dewy finish or added on top of your foundation on the cheekbones as a highlight. Either way it’s beautiful and it smells absolutely dreamy… A must have IMO!!!

5. Revolution Highlight & Radiance Palettes €10.99

These two do exactly what they say on the tin. Two separate palettes each contain either three Highlighting Powders or three Radiant Lights Highlighters. I have the Radiance set and it is so beautiful, extremely pigmented and perfect for a fairer complexion like mine.

6. Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighters €3.99 each

If the trio isn’t your thing you also have the option of buying individual highlighters. These Vivid Baked Highlighters are absolutely stunning and are a complete steal for the price. These come in Peach Lights, Golden Lights and Pink Lights.

7. Freedom Lipstick Collections €7.50

So anybody who frequently reads my blog or follows me on social media knows how OBSESSED I am with lipstick, it is honestly my one big vice so imagine how excited I was to come across these!! A set of 5 Freedom lipsticks for only €7.50, these sets come in six different varieties and lets just say Santa may have gotten an order to deliver some of them here for me on Christmas Eve!!!

8. I Heart Makeup Death by Chocolate palette €12.00This is just one option from the I Heart Makeup Chocolate Palettes collection, this is the one I have myself, it’s called Death by Chocolate. I cannot say enough about this palette, I’ve used it pretty much every single day since I bought it its so versatile. Really pigmented with a mixture of both shimmer and matte shades included. I’m 100% going to buy more palettes from this range as I think they’re incredible value for money!!

9. Revolution 12 days of Christmas Storage Set €100.00

OK so obviously this is quite a pricey item BUT if you were to buy this for any makeup lover you’d definitely score major brownie points with them!!

Included in the box is;

Yah I know….. Actual Christmas present goals right there!!!!

10. Lip Ultra Nude 2017 €10.00

Ok I’m going to end on a bargain…. I have these,  you need them, three absolutely gorgeous Nude lipglosses in three different finishes, One Intense, One Cream and One Shine. They also come in a Vamp collection but these are absolutely DIVINE. Ideal stocking filler or something to pop into the basket for yourself when you’re doing the rest of your shopping.

Well those are my top picks from the website but trust me these are just the tip of the iceberg. You definitely need to head on over to Matte to Metallic and have a nose and support this amazing Irish Christmas.

Tully’s Pharmacy Gift Ideas

So I was recently contacted by Tully’s Pharmacy who are an Irish owned Pharmacy with many branches across the country to let me know that they were launching a new website.

Now I don’t know about anybody else but I’m an absolute sucker for A) Online shopping and B) Pharmacies I’ve never been to, I love checking out what ranges they carry especially their beauty products (obvs)

After I got the email I had a nose on their website and was so delighted to see some of my absolute favourites included in their range, Cocoa Brown, Sleek, The Balm Cosmetics, Makeup Revolution and NYX but to name a few.

In return for me telling you all about their new website they’ve very kindly offered my followers a 10% discount if you use code LipstickNLeopard10 when checking out. They also offer free delivery on any orders over €50 and do next day delivery within Ireland too I mean seriously happy days!!!!

So I’ve decided to do a small little blog post on some of my favourites from the website but trust me this is a very small selection of what they carry so be sure to pop on to their website and check out their range.

The Balm Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipstick Gift Set

If I could only write one sentence about this set it would be “You need to buy it” I really mean that, a beautiful set of six Matte Liquid Lipsticks each colour 100% usable. I have tried LOTS of matte liquid lipsticks in my time and these are honestly one of my favourites. I’m actually going to do a separate blog post about these shortly just to highlight how beautiful they are. Easy to apply and long lasting, an excellent way to give them a try. €29 for a set of 6.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Professional Collection

The price of this collection is actually mind blowing, the amount of products you get for €27.50 is quite something. Essentially this is an introduction to the brand, it contains a Redemption eyeshadow palette, a Pro HD flat contour brush, a lip brush, an eye primer, a contour kit, an eyebrow kit and a highlighter. Wow!! Makeup Revolution is fast becoming the must have brand, it is a very good quality product at a really reasonable price. Their eyeshadow palettes are highly pigmented and long lasting and they have some of the brightest highlighters on the market. This set would be any makeup lovers dream, an absolute bargain!!

Cocoa Brown Travel Set

I have never ever hidden my deep love for Cocoa Brown as a brand (just read my blog!!) So when they launched this set during the summer as a precursor to the launch of their Kind Shampoo and Conditioner I was on it immediately. I’ve reviewed the Shampoo and Conditioner already on the blog see here… but I have to say that I’ve subsequently used the tanning wipes to increase the longevity of my spray tan on my face and they’re beautiful. They smell gorgeous like all Cocoa Brown products do and there is absolutely no mess with them which I have to say was a big fear of mine using them. This is a fantastic stocking filler at the extremely reasonable price of €7.95.

Aroma Home Travel Mug & Cosy Earmuffs Gift Set

Not at all beauty related but I love it. Slogan branded products are so 2016 and who doesn’t need a travel mug!! Plus can we take a moment to look at how cute those earmuffs are…they’re just darling!! An absolutely perfect Kris Kindle present and again really good value at €18.50 but just in case travel mugs aren’t your thing there is also a beautiful set with a mug and cosy socks for €12.99

Victoria Secret Fragrance Mists

Now being 100% honest here I’ve never used these before myself but I’ve seen them recommended by so many others it makes me really interested to try them. They come in lots of different scents including Love Spell, Strawberries and Champagne and Coconut Passion to name a few, they’re a really great lightweight alternative to wearing a perfume and a perfect stocking filler again. Usually priced at €12.50 each for 250ml, Tully’s have them on over currently at €11.00.

One of the many Victoria Secret Fragrances available
